Initiating BAXFENDY[1b]
- May be taken with or without food
- Safety and effectiveness of BAXFENDY initiated in patients with eGFR <45 mL/min/1.73 m2 have not been established. No dosage adjustment is required in patients with an eGFR ≥45 mL/min/1.73 m², unless assessed to be at risk of hyperkalemia[*]
*^ For example, patients ≥65 years of age, those with diabetes mellitus or chronic kidney disease, and those receiving concomitant medications that increase serum potassium.
Warnings and Precautions
- BAXFENDY can cause hyperkalemia and hyponatremia. Assess serum potassium and sodium levels before initiating therapy and correct if needed, monitor periodically during treatment
Drug Interactions[1c]
- Monitor serum potassium more frequently when BAXFENDY is used concomitantly with drugs that impair potassium secretion or increase serum potassium. Concomitant use may increase the risk of hyperkalemia
- Monitor the therapeutic effect of BAXFENDY more frequently during concomitant use with strong or moderate CYP3A inducers. BAXFENDY is a CYP3A substrate
